DEERPARK TO PERFORM CODE REVIEW

For Immediate Release – April 11, 2011

(HUGUENOT, NY) – Deerpark Town Supervisor Karl A. Brabenec has assigned Councilman David M. Hoovler and Town Attorney William Bavoso to do a comprehensive review of a majority of the town codes within the next few months. The purpose of the review is to identify any local laws and ordinances that have not been updated and recommend changes that would benefit the residents of the community. The review would include all of Deerpark’s local code, except for the zoning code, which will be addressed at a later date.

“A review of our basic codes have not happened in at least 20 years and there are certain laws that seem outdated with today’s society,” said Supervisor Brabenec. “This review will give us an opportunity to make sure these codes are up to date with today’s standards and also identify ways in which we may be able to further improve the quality of life for our residents.”

Councilman Hoovler and Mr. Bavoso have started the review and look forward to submitting a report to the council within the next few months.

“There are codes on the books in our town that haven’t been reviewed since the 1970’s and 1980’s,” said Councilman Hoovler. “This is a standard practice that municipalities across the state should follow to make sure we have a quality code that is effective when needed.”
