The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) today announced a $25,000 grant being awarded to the Town of Deerpark Police Department.  This funding is to support the Town police with the purchase of a marked patrol vehicle.

The non matching funds are being made available through the Byrne JAG Grant Funds.  The goal of the Byrne JAG award is for the acquisition of equipment that will support a local law enforcement agency’s efforts to effectively and efficiently reduce incidence of crime and violence in the locality.

The Town of Deerpark has an aging and high mileage fleet of police vehicles.  This is welcome news to the police department and to the Town of Deerpark.

Detective Raymond H. Cirulli played a key role in coordinating this grant for the police department.

In the past the department was awarded computers and other specialized equipment such as a license plate reader.
