DEERPARK ANNOUNCES REVITALIZATION PROJECTS FOR YOUTH AND SENIORS

For Immediate Release – January 11, 2012
(HUGUENOT, NY) – Supervisor Karl A. Brabenec and the Deerpark Town Board announced two major revitalization projects for town facilities at their reorganization meeting this past Monday night. Plans were announced to upgrade and revitalize Space Park, located in Huguenot, into a multi-sports park featuring areas for youth soccer, football, baseball, picnicking and a playground. In addition, plans were also discussed to upgrade the Senior Center at Building #2 in Huguenot with new carpet, furniture and equipment.

“The members of the town board and I feel that it is very important to implement these important quality of life improvements for our youth and seniors,” said Supervisor Karl A. Brabenec. “Both of these facilities need upgrades and are underutilized at the moment. We hope that we can make these two places a real asset to our community”

The Space Park improvements include creating two full size football/soccer fields with bleachers and a fifty yard practice field, revitalizing the existing two baseball fields into upgraded official size youth and senior league fields, upgrading the existing infrastructure and creating a concession stand.

“We want to bring back our youth sports programs to the Town of Deerpark,” said Councilman David M. Hoovler. “Our seniors also deserve a clean and upgraded facility to congregate and socialize.”

Work on both projects are to start this spring and are anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.
